Security Design

Robust passports and identity documents start with thoughtful, integrated design. AG2 works with governments and issuing authorities to embed protection from the earliest stages, combining material choices, print processes, personalisation and electronic safeguards to make credentials hard to forge, alter or misuse.

We apply a Security by Design philosophy, engineering security into the document rather than adding features as an afterthought. By coordinating substrate security, optical elements, personalisation measures and electronic protections, we support the creation of ICAO Doc 9303 compliant documents that are durable, trusted and aligned with international best practice. Security features must also be practical to use.

Our designs are structured to support fast, reliable checks by frontline officers and examiners, without compromising readability, user experience or long-term document performance.

Why it matters

Weak or fragmented design increases fraud risk, slows border and identity checks and undermines trust in the issuing authority. A well-conceived document strengthens national security, safeguards personal identity and enables smooth recognition and verification across borders.
